BARIATRIC OBESITY SURGERY

Appointments for all your examinations are organized by our team. Our preparations start in the morning on the determined day and end in an estimated 3-4 hours. Our team accompanies you at all these steps.

Most of our patients do not need intensive care. Some of the high-risk patients may rarely need it.

Having a companion with you for the first day after sleeve gastrectomy may make you feel better. However, if you do not have a companion, our team will support you.

• You may have minimal pain for the first 2-3 hours after sleeve gastrectomy. These are immediately intervened with painkillers given intravenously.

If you have an office job, you can return to work after one week. If you have a job that requires intense effort, it will be enough to rest for 15 days.

It would not do any harm taking a shower on the day of your discharge. But you need to dry your wound completely.

No catheter is inserted after surgery. Our patients can stand up 2-3 hours after coming to their room and go to the lavatory by themselves.

Depending on your compliance with the diet program given after sleeve gastrectomy, you will start to lose 10% to 20% of your current weight on average in the first month. The aim of the procedure is to lose 80% of your excess weight within one year.

Since aesthetic sutures are now used after sleeve gastrectomy surgery, your stitches will melt and fall off on their own without being removed.

It is recommended that after sleeve gastrectomy the patients should not smoke for at least one month. Thus, wound healing is faster and the risk of infection is reduced.

It is recommended not to drink coffee in the first month after the surgery.

After the surgery, your blood values are routinely followed by our doctor and vitamin supplements can be added to your diet according to your needs. You may need to use supplements at intervals of maximum 1-2 years.

Natural sagging that will occur during this process and it can be minimized with doing light exercises that you should start 1-2 weeks after the surgery.

You should share with our doctor all the operations you have had before. Having all the information about your medical history is helpful in the operation process. But the previous surgeries (like appendix, cesarean section, closed operations, operations outside the abdominal region, etc.) do not constitute an obstacle.

Although this varies depending on the person, since the operation is performed with the closed (laparoscopic) method and the hospital stay is shortened, the person usually can return to his normal life on the fourth or seventh day after the surgery.

Pregnancy is not recommended for the first year after sleeve gastrectomy. There is no harm in conceiving with an obstetrics follow-up after one year.

After the sleeve gastrectomy operation, you should consult your doctor for the use of drugs other than those prescribed to you.

It is sufficient for our patients living abroad to allocate a total of 7 days. You can contact the clinical assistant or coordinator for the necessary transfer and accommodation services.

You can board the plane as soon as you are discharged from the hospital. For this, the necessary document will be issued and delivered to you.

You can start doing light exercises (like walking, jogging, cycling, etc.) one week after the operation.  It is appropriate to start heavy exercises after the sixth or eighth week.

You can swim 3 weeks after the surgery.

After gastric sleeve surgery, 3 weeks of sexual abstinence is recommended. There is no problem in starting sexual intercourse three weeks later.

Gastric sleeve surgery is a restrictive obesity treatment method. If you follow the post-operative rules, your stomach will not stretch.

As long as you adapt to your diet after sleeve gastrectomy, it is not possible to gain weight.

It can be defined as a correction operation. After obesity surgery, the incorrect or improperly performed surgery can cause weight gain. The patients can fall back to their ideal weight with personalized revision surgeries.
